9.5 Update


So, I have not written one of these before on this site, but I thought it would be good to show that I am still alive. I am here, I promise.

I had planned to release Playtest v10 earlier this year, as shown on my Discord. Still, I lost my home office due to some flooding mishaps, and I ended up spending most of my time on editing instead of implementing a significant layout design change. Overall, though, this is a pretty big jump; there are many more options in some ways. Still, there are fewer pages as I cut some parts that I want to rehash a bit (mostly the rules for creating custom content), and I formatted the content areas (like the list of traits) to be multiple columns instead of a single column. It reduced the number of pages to about 180. Given that it was nearing 300 pages, I think that demonstrates the effectiveness of the layout.

One of the significant changes I made was to specializations (though it was mostly in their design goals), which you can read about in a game dev blog post I wrote on my Ko-fi. I hope that if you check this out, you will have fun.

In This Update

  • Character occupations have significantly changed.
  • Changed Wealth greatly.
  • New base actions added!
  • Terrain Example added…The 
  • Deities and Creatures of Power section added
  • Changes to advantages/disadvantages
  • Expanded upon and renamed temporary mettle.
  • Merged Arts, Crafts, and Program into one skill. Added Nature as a skill. Renamed Command with Rally, and Computer Science to Technology
  • To increase clarity, remove 'vigor' as a term for actions in a turn.
  • More layout adjustments and other various edits.
